Latest Lists

Does this list look accurate to you? Am I missing anything? List for Baby?

This is the list that I just made (I'm 8 weeks, I know it's really early, but I love feeling organized and ready) of things that I'm going to need/want for when my baby arrives-6 months or so. I was wondering if you mommies or daddies had anything I should add on there? I was also wondering if my prices look accurate. I do realize that I will get some of these things when I have my baby shower, but I figure with this list, it will also make my registry easier to deal with :). 1. Looks pretty good to me.. but you know i am 6 weeks and im waiting to think of all this until im past the point of no chance of a miscarriage or a little chance.. you don't want to tget yourself all prepared and excited and then something happen.. thats why im waiting to get really excited!!! Not to worry you but it is a thought!!! Good luck.. congrats
  2. Honestly I'd put more in for the pump because most of the good ones are more than that, but if you're not going to use it much than an 80 dollar one might be ok. Also you don't NEED any of that feeding stuff if you're breastfeeding, it's just extra, but better safe than sorry right? The rest seems pretty accurate, I can't really think of much more you'd need.
  3. You have mostly everything although some items the prices are bit off (either too high or too low--for instance crib mattresses cost closer to and over $100 atleast the ones I've seen.) You're also going to need crib pads, plenty of receiving blankets, bibs for bottlefeeding, a sleep positioner, a good nursing bra and nursing tanks if you are breastfeeding.
  4. Looks good, If you will be using the breast pump I would recommend that you get a double electric one, it will be more $ but it is well worth it!! Also, check Craigs List for the furniture items, just make sure that you verify them with a recall list (cribs especially) you can save $ by buying some of these items 2nd hand. A Lot of the items like the swing, changing tables are not used very long (the child out grows it quickly) so these items will have little ware. Also, shop around, I got my Stroller and Car seat for $179, so you will save tons of money by shopping different stores. Babies R Us and other Baby specific stores have everything imaginable, but they charge way more than you would pay for a very similar item at Target or Walmart.
  5. it looks pretty good to me! u may want to consider a convertible crib that turns into a toddler bed, and then into a full size bed, this is good to save money in the long run. there is also a pillow for nursing called a boppy pillow, those are really good to support ur arm while breastfeeding, also it helps baby with tummy time and to help them sit up. u should also get a wipe warmer that way its more comfortable for baby, it looks like ur pretty prepared, good luck, God Bless, and congrats!
  6. You really don't need all this crap... even if you do want all of it you don't have to spend nearly as much, that's ridiculous. If you are wealthy by all means waste the money, but seriously think about what's necessary and what's going to get used once then forgotten. I would really recommend checking out yard sales, craigslist, consignment shops, etc. The only thing you must have new is the carseat and keep in mind that travel systems are bulky and a pain in behind; things that are nice to have new are: crib mattress, bedding, clothing--- but not necessary to spend full price for. For instance, I paid $75.00 for my son's crib and dresser/changing table from a neighbor's yard sale. Both pieces match and were in great condition, only three years old; then I got some paint for about $25.00 to refinish and make them new for my baby. I got a molded changing pad for $20.00 and a few baskets for the dresser for about $15.00 and voile... nursery set for less than $200.00. Some of your pricing is a bit unrealistic; believe me you will spend more than $75.00 for clothes and most of your playtime stuff isn't needed. If you are planning to pump often you will want to spend more than eighty bucks for a decent pump... I got a cheapy one and it almost damaged my nipples. Revised: Nursery: Crib $150.00 Mattress $35.00 Change Station $100.00 Chair Use one you already have Angel Care Monitor From what I hear these don't work well Bedding $50.00 All you need are crib sheets and a few blankets... bumpers, etc are dangerous Décor $50.00 Get a few cute things but remember, the kid is going to grow and have their own likes and dislikes. Total: 385.00 Baby Gear Tub $20.00 Stroller + Carseat $200.00 Diaper Bag $30.00 Carrier $30.00 Cloth Diapers $300.00 You really can get cheaper cloths, but the spendy ones are nice if you plan to have more children. Clothing $200.00 They grow fast, believe me, in a couple weeks you'll probably need bigger sizes. Total $750.00 Playtime: Play Yard Unnecessary unless you travel often or don't plan to use a crib. Exersaucer $150.00 Swing $60.00 Get a small, travel sized you'll be out less money when you find the baby hates it. Play Mat Use a blanket you already have and toys from below Toys $100.00 I'll give you this one, but remember you don't need toys right away. Total $310.00 Feeding: Breast Pump $100.00- $250.00 Nipple Shield Wait until you know you actually need these, most hospital will give them to you. Bottles $50.00 Get quality bottles if you are going to be bottle feeding Total (Taxes In) $150- $300
  7. Your pricing's a bit skewed, really, and some things you may not need. But, you're definitely going to need some other things - burp pads, lap pads, a contoured change pad, wipes, wash cloths, baby shampoo/wash. Revised list: Nursery: Crib $399.99 Mattress $69.99 Change Station $199.99 Change Pad $15 Chair $199.99 <-- you can find it for this price without a problem... buy this sooner, rather than later, as you may enjoy rocking/gliding while pregnant Angel Care Monitor $149.99 Bedding $100.00 Décor $50 <-- don't go hogwild on decor - you're just going to change it several times. Baby Gear Receiving Blankets Tub $14.99 <-- you can get tubs really cheap these days Baby Shampoo Baby Body Wash Wash Cloths Hooded Towels Stroller + Carseat $179.99 <-- you can get a decent set for a really reasonable rate these days Diaper Bag $30.00 <-- get one that comes with its own change pad Carrier $49.99 Cloth Diapers $300.00 <-- does this include liners/diaper pants? You're going to need them! Also, have you considered using a diaper service? Diaper Pail <-- NECESSARY!!! Wipes Clothing $75.00 <-- this figure's only good if you know you're going to get a lot as gifts, or you buy from used clothing stores, and get everything on sale. Baby clothes can be expensive - typically $7 - 20/outfit or more. Playtime: Play Yard $219.99 Exersaucer $149.99 Swing $149.99 Play Mat $59.99 Toys $100.00 Total (Taxes In) $768.35*** your baby's not due till what? September area? Try to get as many of these items on sale as possible. If you're in the US, get them on black friday. Watch for sales. You won't need the exersaucer until the baby's at least 3 months old, and see if you can borrow a friend's swing (if you have a friend with a baby) and try the baby in it before you buy one. You might also want to look into jolly jumpers, bouncy chairs, boppy, etc. Every baby's different, and you're going to want to get what works for your baby. Feeding: Breast Pump $79.99 <-- be prepared to spend more. Most electric pumps start at $149.99, and you'll want a good one if you're going to be pumping a lot. Nipple Shield $10.00 <-- don't bother unless you see a lactation consultant and they think you need one. It was a complete waste of money for me. Bottles $20.00 <-- if you're bottle feeding, you'll spend more than that. Don't buy many until after baby is born. Babies can be very fussy about bottle type. My daughter likes the Playtex Drop-Ins. Bibs High Chair If you're going right up to 6 months, then also sippy cups, baby spoons, bowls, etc. Sometimes breastfeeding doesn't work out. Go to baby shows and get free samples from as many companies as possible, or sign up on websites to get free samples. That way you can try some formulas before deciding which works best for your baby. FYI, I got most of my stuff from people in the community, or baby sales, or a consignment shop in the area, so I got my crib, change table, contoured change pad, and most of the bathtime supplies for free.. I only paid $40 for a swing, high chair, rocking/vibrating/activity chair for the baby, only paid $8 for my exersaucer, $70 for a bassinet, and for bottles I think I paid a grand total of $30 (and I have over 20 bottles). I haven't spent much on clothing at all, as I get a lot of handmedowns, or gifts from friends/family... in fact, the most I spend money on is diapers and formula (I use disposable diapers, and couldn't breastfeed afterall because she wouldn't take to the breast after the lactation consultants put a bottle in her mouth). Good luck! :)
