What is the best way to sell items on Craig s List?

I am trying to sell stuff on Craig's List but keep getting all these spam-like replies. Am I doing something wrong? What info on how to respond should I put in? For one ad that I placed last night so far I have had 38 bogus responses. If anyone can help I would appreciate it! Thanks!

1. Usually if you put your items next to something with a giant penis they sell real fast. I know people like you like that type of thing.
2. The spam replies are, unfortunately, one of the things about Craigslist that can't be controlled. Kind of like all the spam you see here in Answers. When you sell something, accept only cash and deal face to face. If the check the home page for any city in Craigslist you can find a list of what to do and not do so you won't be scammed. Make sure you read it for your own protection.
