- Fix it. What kind of car, and what is wrong?
- Bend over and grab your ankles. You will feel a sharp pain, followed by a dull hurt.
- Here's what u can do: 1. Pay for a new engine 2. Junk it Contrary to idiots claiming all kinds of protection, the ONLY real law is that used cars are sold AS-IS. If you want protection buy a new car.
- Fix, I know of no lemon laws that extend out for more than 3 days.
- Anytime you purchase a used car you should always take the vehicle to a mechanic you know and trust to have the vehicle inspected from front to back before you purchase the vehicle. The mechanic may not find all the little minor problems but a good mechanic can tell if the engine is bad or if the transmission is going bad. These two parts are very expensive to replace. I am not saying all the other parts are cheap but the engine and transmission are a couple of the most expensive items. If the seller don't want you to take the vehicle to have it checked out, you can pretty much bet there is something the seller doesn't want you to know. Sellers like these always have an excuse for you not taking the vehicle to get checked out. They might tell you that they are afraid you won't return with the vehicle or something like that. You could always ask them to go with you to the mechanic and watch for themselves as the vehicle is checked out. The seller might come off with something like they don't have time to go with you. This is a stalling trick. Anytime you buy ANYTHING from Craig's List you need to check it out really well. I am not saying that everyone trying to sell something on Craig's List is a scammer but there seems to be a good part of the sellers are scammers. As for what you can do in your situation, there probably isn't much you can do because most used vehicles are sold as and without any type of warranty. In other words you took a chance on a used vehicle and lost. Now, you say it stopped running after four days. There are many different things that can cause a vehicle to stop running. It could be just a small ten dollar item or it could be into the thousands of dollars problem. If it run good when you bought it then it may be just a dirty fuel filter or an electrical part needing replaced. Until you take it to a mechanic and find out what is wrong you won't know for sure. If there is a safety concern regarding the vehicle and the seller didn't advise you of the safety problem then you might and I use the word "Might" lightly be able to go to the law enforcement and get the safety problem repaired but I wouldn't bet on it. Good luck with the vehicle and go get it checked out and see what is wrong.
- You didn't buy anything from Craigslist, because Craigslist didn't sell you anything. You bought a car from a private seller, which makes this an "as is" transaction. Your options are: Pay to have it fixed, do nothing, or park it in your yard and plant flowers in it. The seller has no obligation here. There's no law against selling a crappy car. You had the opportunity to inspect the vehicle before you bought it. It's too late now. Sorry.
