i want to purchase Dreamweaver 8 so that i can design and develp a website.What other software do i need?

The web site will have search functions , navigation structures, and animations. I want to include Fireworks on my list of software to get but what else will i need. Thanks

1. You will probably need the following softwares for website development (static content i.e. only html): Photoshop (Free alternate: GIMP or Picasa) coolFTP to upload your site on website (Free alternate File FileZilla) Flash 8 or Swish 2 for flash animations (Free exotic alternate: Eclips SDK with Flasout, MTAC, swfmill plugins) Bunch of good fonts Now if you want to create a site with dynamic content i.e. weblog/portfolio/business sites you need to install a either Microsoft IIS server (you gotta pay for it) or Apache 2 (free) and MySQL (free) with PHP (Free). Also, I advice you to download and install multiple versions of web browsers (Fire fox 1, 1.5, 2, IE 4-7, etc.. ) for testing your site. Hope this helps. Vikram http://hpk.co.in
