Why do people rank Dr. J over Kobe on top 10 lists?

Remember all this talk about ''Kobe wouldn't have won without Shaq''? Well guess what? Dr. J never won without Moses and was 0-3 in the Finals before Moses showed up!

1. Most people who say Kobe is better than Dr. J have overlooked his ABA stats combined with his NBA stats.
2. In fairness, Dr. J did lead his team to 50 wins and the Finals in his first NBA season, led them to 55 wins and the conference finals his second season, 47 wins and the conference finals his 3rd season, 59 win and the Finals his fourth season despite playing on a team with modest talent around him, won 62 games, MVP and lost in game 7 of the ECF in his fifth season and then he won 58 games and again made it to the Finals in 1982. All of that before Moses and by that time he was 32. Before Moses arrived, Julius had three top 3 MVP finishes and an additional top 5 finish. And the teams he brought to the finals in 1980 and 1982 lost to Laker teams with much more talent. With that being said, I do consider Kobe to be the better player, but not because of his 2009 ring. I just consider Kobe the more gifted scorer, playmaker and defender.

You forgot or did not know that Dr. J had a very successful stint in the old ABA league in which he won 2 championship and was the face of the league, as a matter of fact he was the league and if it was not for him the league would have folded instead of merge with the NBA. I think he was the best showman in the league and perhaps the best showman ever and I think he can play and shine with the likes of today's player Now is he better than Kobe? It is hard to compare different player that plays different position but I think if they both played now in their prime I think they both would give each other run for their money. But all in all I would say Kobe is a better scorer that Dr. J
8. The league didn't SUCK when Dr. J played, like it did when Kobe played......LMFAO! MICHAEL JORDAN SUCKS!!!!!
9. They say that because a lot of people just don't like Kobe because he is such a jerk and Dr. J was such a great ambassador for the game. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with who is the better player.
10. Neither guy is a top 10 of all time. Top 20, yes, top 10, no. If you never saw Dr J play during his ABA days, then I can understand you asking this question. His prime was prior to the creation of ESPN.
