  1. Speaking from previous experience as one, I can't say there are a lot of "funny" things about being a drug abuser. They can be fun at parties, especially when they pass out from drinking too much or puke on something valuable. Abuse of some drugs (meth, crack, amphetamines, etc) can lead to a dependency so strong that nothing becomes more important than getting that next high - even stealing from family becomes acceptable if the addiction is strong enough. I guess that verbal and physical abuse probably isn't all that funny. Ever see someone get violent when they get drunk? How about when their family is involved? With many drugs you lose your connection with reality. This can take the form of hallucinations, delusions, paranoia, etc. I suppose the guy who is in the corner tripping on psychedelics can be funny, especially when they keep seeing the walls melt. Drug users are great people to be around if you do the same drug(s) as they do. I dunno. This is kind of bumming me out. I'm a recovering alcoholic (3 years now) so I guess this isn't a topic that I can take as being incredibly humorous. Nearly destroying your life because you can't control your addiction can have that effect, I guess. Good luck with your play. Saul
