When employers look at a resume, what do they look for usually?
I can list my education, references, work history and whatnot, (skills pertaining to the job), but what else? I know they can't ask the race, age, height, etc, but what else? How do I spruce up my big R?

- It depends on the job and your audience. If you provide more info, the answers can be more specific. If you are applying for an accounting job, they want a resume to look traditional, professional, and conservative. If you are applying to an advertising agency, they want to see something flashy and creative that stands out from the crowd. For references, just say "furnished upon request" rather than listing them. You might include a section of specific skills; technology you know how to use, licenses, etc. It might help if you know Java, HTML, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Photoshop, etc. Don't list games. A section on outside interests can be a good conversation starter. If you share a sport or musical interest with an interviewer, it might help you land a job.
