What is your Ascendant and do you think it compliments or contradicts the rest of your personality?

Do you think it's really a "mask" you wear? Please explain. And what aspects do you have to your Ascendant? List anything you feel is relevant.

it really is the mask. and i hate it. it contradicts and does not allow me to be who i really am. i'm a Scorpio through and through but so few would know it, they would only see my scorpioness mediated though my Virgo rising.
Libra Rising. I think it compliments me pretty well although I cant make up my mind a lot of times and I need to try extra hard to appear passionate for my Aries man.
Compliments....VERY! It doesn't contradict it at all, of course some traits are hidden, but not completely. I am hard to understand by nature, or what i exhibit is not always what i feel, but not because of my Asc. it is who i am, i always hide things (emotions). I don't know how to explain it lol not sure if you understood. :D Sun trine Asc. Aquarius sun, Libra moon, Gemini ascendant. (Maybe it is because all are in air lol) edit: It is, that when someone knows what i truly do feel, they are very surprised. it is because i hid it well in the first place, that is who i am, not because my Asc. didn't allow me to be me.
Yeah definitely. I am a scorpio with an aquarius rising. People's first impression of me is typically happy--go-lucky, a little eccentric, friendly, and laid-back. Those who really know me, however, have seen a much darker side associated with my scorpio sun and moon. anyone who sees that side has to be really trustworthy.
* I prefer to see the Asc as the way people view me and my attitude toward the world, rather than a mask. Aries rising with Jupiter on the Asc is absolutely me! Sunny and positive toward everybody- trusting all until they prove they can't be trusted. Open, active, sturdy of body (healthy)- friendly. Its definitely me- one of the few parts of my chart I didn't have to figure out and reason through.
for the majority it is who I am.. I don't like wearing "masks" or covering up who I am. Im proud of myself and what I do and have done.. Not always the smartest things, granted, but hell.. Im still standing from it, so it made me stronger and definitely gave me some stories lol. I definitely ain't the stereotyped whiny cancer, which I guess just goes to show people that there really is more to it than just your sun sign. People can take me as I am, or choose not to, then it's their problem. But I have no need to wear faces to gain friends or attention. I'm a man of action, and like it that way.. which probably explains my combative nature.. When words ain't getting the job done, its obviously time to kick some ass, whether that's literally or figuratively. Sure, I'll help my friends out, but not usually in the caring, nurturing way like a cancer is prone to. Usually they come to me when things are ugliest because thats what Im known for, thriving in the rough times. Unfortunately, it tends to make some of them kind of dependent, and if I branch away towards other circles, they kind of drift off back to making dumb decisions because they get too used to me whiping their *** for them or something. Can't be there every time and forever.. If only more people took initiative in their lives.. but they're my friends, so I do what I can and dont ask much in return. I think half of them can safely say if there was a big fight about to erupt, or someone coming after them with a gun, I'd be on their speed dial for that one. edit: Prime example ; I was basically my friend James's balls in his relationship with his notorious skank pisces gf. Every time there was an issue.. guess who he came to. I had to tell her off constantly and put her in line many times because he was playing nice guy because he loves her. How? I dont know. Im a trusting guy and even I smelled bulls*** all over her, up and down within the first 30 mins of meeting her. Anyways, after she made him cry when she came over [already having a new boyfriend and everything] and they slept together again, and she swore she loved him. Next day she was with her boyfriend, she texted him saying she never loved him all this s***. He told me, and I got damn heated. She already had caused issues with me and christie [at the time], and now she was messin with one of my best friends again. So I WENT OFF on her something fierce. I chewed her up and spit her out, swearing if she ever tried to contact him again with that attitude, I'd burn her rep to the ground til she couldnt get another good guy here for the rest of her life. That wasnt even the best part of what I said.. but she got the gyst of it and didnt contact him again til she got herself in check a couple months later. That dumb bastard is dating her AGAIN. Now Im just like f*** it. He was like, I know it sounds crazy. I was like, no.. Doing 150 on the interstate is crazy. Dumb is doing it without a seatbelt, drunk. You're being the latter, you jacka**. I was like fine, do whatever you want, but dont bring this crap back to me again.. If you're going to go back on what I said to her, and give her yet another chance, and not learn, that's your issue now, not mine.
Personally, I feel my rising compliments my personality, but when it comes to people getting to know me, it feels like a contradiction. It's because my rising is Gemini but I'm not like a Gemini when I first meet people. I'm very quiet and shy when you first meet me, so I'm like opposite of a Gemini lol. However, once you get to know me, I act a lot like a Gemini.
Leo Rising. I think it complements what I am and masks it as well. Also, the Scorpio-Leo combination makes people think I'm really arrogant because I'm shy and have this regal demeanor at the same time. Jupiter Conjunct Ascendant Moon Sextile Ascendant
Compliments! Im a Cancer with Capricorn Rising, and I couldnt have asked for a better sign. Gives me the perfect balance because Im not too emotional, nor am I too cold. Im right in the middle, and never get over sensitive about anything or anyone. I love it.
Im a cancer and I think it does contradicts my personality I can be the most fun person ever but because of my cancer rising if someone jokes or says something harmful it stays with me and I think about it over and over and I get very upset over it I can be very emotional and I don't like it. It's like a war because I have my rising is cancer but most of my chart out of all the elements are air signs so when I go emotional I don't favor it, it's like a bad habit to me.
i have capricorn rising, which as we all know is the farest thing from a sagittarius. but i love it hehe. it makes me look very intimidating, and it makes my attitude stand out even more. i feel like balances me. when people first meet me, they know not to fuck with me. lol
Sagittarius. Compliments, it helps out balance my personality. The majority of my planets are under Scorpio influence so I believe it helps balance out the Scorpio to everything else ratio. Moon Trine Ascendant Saturn Square Ascendant
I have sagg ascendant. I thnk it contradicts my personality more than compliments it. I'm more of a reserved, introvert, and don't show a lot of enthusiasm outwardly. But sagg is supposed to be extroverted, atheltic, outspoken, energetic, which I'm usually not. However, I do relate strongly to the independent nature of sagg and the need for personal freedom. I don't think it's a mask I consciously wear, but I don't know how others see me either. It could have more impact on my physical appearance than personality. Asc influences outward, physical appearance more than personality.
I have a libra ascendant and I think that it's cool cuz I don't have much trouble giving a good first impression and I'm usually friendly in social situations. But it's also a misrepresentation of me regularly because I have a bitchy side that people closest to me see more than they really deserve to.
I'm a Pisces with an Aries rising that's less than a degree away from being a Pisces rising. It's a mix. It misleads people a lot. Cuz it may make me seem full of myself or all about "mememe" when I'm nothing like that. I'm a really sensitive, nice, deep loving, philosophical and accepting person and I don't think people ever see that since I never show it and just let things be or speak my mind with joking around, no harm done, sarcasm. Friends get offended by some witty,smart asss comments or jokes and think I may be being cruel or mean when I'm making a joke about how things just are, not taking life so seriously. Maybe I just need some friends that aren't so thin skinned I guess. Cuz I'm not a mean person and never have been. But I'm a super quirky person, and I don't see myself as a shy person(besides when it comes with cute guys)and my Aries rising can be fun when I'm feeling right. I'll talk to random people, ask and say off things and have crazy times with other crazy people lol. It also helps me ATTEMPT to assert myself. So at school or in places that you have to sit down, not doing anything, same group of people I see everyday, be quiet, concentrate(I can't focus for nothing with my constantly interrupting thoughts and daydreams lol) and etc, Aries rising is not flattering. But when I'm out and about free to be how ever I feel, Aries rising is my best pal and puts the people around me on a ride. I'm just confused. Some people say I look like I'm going to cry all the time when I hardly cry or think about crying in front of people. Others say I look pissed off or scary which REALLY surprised me since I'm hardly ever mad or ever crabby with people. Then the other one is that I always look out of it and in my own world or thinking really hard, meaning constant hands shaking in front of my face to get me to snap out of it lol. Which is incredibly true for me since I'm always thinking about things which is why I may come off as quiet since I'm always thinking about things during conversations instead of chipping in. Well i think it adds lightness and detachment from my very emotional and demanding personality ~ aquarius rising. The problem is people think i am impersonal, love humanity, easy going and detached. So i attract people who want that.. but i am actually very attached, personal, refined tastes, particular and emotionally deep. I like it because when i want i CAN give off the image like i don't care about anything. when i really do. I need this illusion to manipulate situations, as a scorpio moon would
I'm a Sagittarius with Aquarius Rising. I definitely think I come off as more Aquarius than Sagittarius because, although I'm very friendly, I'm also detached which Aquas are known for. Only when I truly trust someone do I really open up and become more like a fun & outgoing Sagittarius. It's takes a very long time for people to get to know me. I also like my space and freedom which is a trait of both Sadge & Aquarius.
I hate it cause I won't go up to talk to someone I don't know and be like "Heeeeeeeey what's crackalackin?!" But when they talk to me, they realize I'm like a radio station and won't shut upp! lol From there, I would start approachin them and talk to them since I know them. It is a part of me that I wear it as a "mask" to protect me.But still it stays a part of my personality,just not the core personality. The seriousness...ha ha,you have no idea how I really am.People usually tell me"I never expected you to be this way".I love to laugh and be like a child.Although I am limited in that area actually. Or control.I feel the need to control things but generally I have more fun when I am not doing that.
Aquarius rising; Capricorn on the 11th house cusp. Saturn and Neptune in the 11th house. The ruler of the 1st house is in the 10th house. Mars ( Aries ) in the 1st house. Moon opposed Asc. Uranus sextile Asc. Jupiter Square Asc. -- Since Aquarius is the rising sign, I put what I had in my 11th house too. Because Aquarius rules the 11th house, being all about friends, networks, and associations. I think I am a multi layered person and I DO think that the rising sign compliments my personality. It's like one piece of the puzzle. It's what you first see. I am not generally "what you see is what you get" as I like to keep my most private self to those who know me the best. I come off as very absent minded, creative, aloof, and reserved. Not many people can see me 'letting go.' In many ways, I think I come off as a Capricorn rising... but I think that's because the ruler of my 1st house is in the 10th house and I have Saturn in the 11th house. Also, Capricorn in the 11th house cusp. I know I wasn't born at the times of Cap rising, though. But I notice I tend to have a serious 'vibe' about me, yet quirky. I'm a loner and I'm not going to be super super friendly until I warm up to you.
Just like you Joanna, I'm also Leo Rising, with a leo moon. I think it hides who I really am in private and I can `also act` when out in public and with others, regardless of my true feelings . so yes, my leo ascendant masks the real me most of the time. I get bouts of bad depression at times with I hide very well, yet If I revealed this part about me or told people I was shy, they wouldn't believe me! (but I wouldn't reveal it, purely out of pride and not to show this weakness to others!) I know in the past I was called a snob, but as I see it, leo ascendants have certain standards to maintain both to themselves and with regards to others etc... Personally, while I'm out I tend to dress well/smart, even if I'm only going to the shops to get some milk lol , wearing the best clothes, perfume, the best of everything etc... because I have an certain image to maintain, regardless of how I'm feeling inside. I have a Sagittarius ascending. I think it compliments my Leo sun. But contradicts my Scorpio moon. And it's a plus for luck, since I have Sagittarius in Jupiter too :D
