Girls: Do these ladies represent an example to follow?

Askmen.com lists a set of ladies who have used their intelligence and talent to triumph. The site also declares that they are very influential among society. This list is shared by many girls. Within the set, we can find Salma Hayek, Lady Gaga, Gisele Bündchen and Beyonce. Why does this website think that those ladies are smart and brilliant? I believe they think those ladies are very clever at seducing and tempting rich guys. I believe they think those ladies are very clever at walking on a catwalk. I believe they think those ladies are very clever at making music done for the body and not for the mind and heart. Do those "qualities" make you intelligent? Do those qualities make you an example to be followed among by young people? They do not mention real intelligent people such as Lynn Margulis, Nadia Comaneci, Anna Netrebko or Mónica Bellucci. Why? If I were a girl I would like to be like them. I really admire them. What do you think?

  1. I would prefer a guy who notices me when I'm not seducing him, and I prefer being smarter in areas that are more productive to society. Most of the men you get just by seducing are the same men that are unloyal and cheat. Considering they're weak minded. I'd rather have a guy who loves me for deeper reasons than a rich guy who falls for any hot body that gives him attention any day. I want someone who can be a good father and I want to be someone who would make a good mother. Those ladies may be able to get to the top, but could they stay there? I wouldn't follow them, I have my own way of doing things. And really, it takes no brains at all to seduce someone! And since this was on askmen.com, my first guess is that they just have sex on their minds. They probably think strippers are good role models too. But think of it this way, if you wouldn't want your little daughter following them, then they're probably not good role models. Girls should be more independent than that, and not rely on guys for who they are and where they get in life.
  2. I do not think that the first group of women you listed are good role models. They may be intelligent, but their intelligence is not their primary draw, and they know it. Not good role models.
  3. I guess not much passes for smart these days... However, one thing that can be said about Salma, Gaga, Gisele and Beyonce is that they all have either a genuine talent or are very professional with what they do. Salma Hayek can act, although I doubt she would've been as successful had she not had that body... Having said that, there are some "sexy" actresses that really cannot act at all, and are cast purely because of the way they look and presumably, because they have basic reading skills and can remember lines of a script. Lady Gaga is something of an acquired taste... Some say she is completely talentless, but nobody can deny that she must have something to be able to write her own songs and be sexy in a non-conformist way. She has single-handedly managed to capitalise on her own style, and many of the rich and high profile have been copying her look. Gisele Bunchen is a model, and while to the general public, it may not seem like that much hard work, not every pretty girl can take a picture that people will take notice of on a billboard. Beyonce can actually sing... Sure, she isn't the greatest female vocalist of all time, and sure, a lot of her songs follow the same pattern (hopelessly in love, or fiercely single and "independant", or something to dance to, all three trying to be seductive) but at least she doesn't sound flat and has managed to maintain a clean image, with a very clear cut line between her personal life and her stage persona... Some celebs fail to realise that it's better to "switch off" sometimes and not turn their private lives into as much of a performance as what they do in their concerts. I'm not defending this, I'm simply playing devils advocate. I'd much prefer these women to be considered clever than the likes of certain individuals who's initial claim to fame is a "leaked" sex tape... They make me sick! As for setting examples, to be honest, young people will follow whoever is famous, smart or not. I don't think any celeb is a "role model", but then I don't believe in role models...
  4. Well I honestly believe Lady GaGa is an amazingly great role model. Not just because she makes great music either. She for one does judge people. she actually cares about her music, she isn't afraid to be her and that's what her fans love. when you see her videos you see her embrace her sexual side but hey most videos are like that but if you look into her music you'll see her serious songs and meaningful ones. GaGa sits down and writes every single song from the heart and each has great meaning. Sure some see her fashion as crazy or attention seeking but no its her being her. I think even if she wasn't famous she would still strut down the street in those clothes. Its unique but its great. GaGa also happens to be a religious role model too. I mean after listening to her and attending the Monster Ball i can say i got my faith back because of her. I think everyone should attend the Monster Ball before they truly judge Gaga. Because that show can change your life. GaGa gives people the chance to be them. To drop their insecurities, to forget their problems and to release their inner monsters because if we keep going we'll get to our dreams just like her. What she wears is like her saying its okay to be you because no matter what she loves you. Lady GaGa saved my life with her words and her music. I will forever be a true little monster for the rest of my life. She is my role model and i think if people gave her a chance she could be theirs to. She's beautiful, intelligent, loving, religious and she's her. Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanottta sets her little monsters free. I love you Lady GaGa. MotherMonsterForever<3
