How do I stop the notifications in Yahoo Mail saying somebody wants to add me to their online list?

Every time I log into the Yahoo Mail interface, I get 5-10 of these requests popping up: "<some spammer name> has requested to add you to their online list.". These are never from people I know and always look very suspect. I want to block these requests entirely, but don't see how to do that.

1. I would like to know the answer to this as well. It is VERY annoying!!!
2. If they come in the inbox, just mark them spam, then the rest will always go to the spam. This has been happening since Yahoo changed things to the Pulse. I have my account set for Don't share my updates and I disabled updates in the mail, but I am still getting them. But they go to spam now.
