How do you add contacts on your yahoo to your "online list"?

I am trying to add a contact to my online list so I can chat with him but I can't figure out how...how do I do this?

1. while online and signed on to msgr,click on contacts on top,and there is your choices to add your contact,choos the easiest one and follow the steps.They can be on the online list when they are online,otherwise they are on the offline list .good luck.
