Landing a job with a top company.. New graduate.?

I'm looking for a job that suits me and my degree in Business Management. In choosing this degree I thought it to be helpful that it was a broad degree that encompassed many different options in terms of career paths. I now see the curse in that blessing as it has become time to job-hunt. Management is a very broad major and there are so many things that an individual could do with it that it makes the options very cloudy. Any suggestions as to what sort of job I should be looking for and which companies would be the best to start off with? Thanks!

  1. Join the Federal Government. Best employer I have ever had. Great pension.... Especially the IRS.
  2. Nah, federal government guys burn out quickly. It totally depends on what you like to do. Not so much what you are good at, but what you truly like and want to do. If it is sales, I would stay in something that is recession proof like tech, food, or education. If it is numbers, maybe get into financial management. Some of the best sites are the recruiting websites like mrinetwork.com or theladders.com. I am sure as a college grad you don't want to make $30,000 a year so I would stay away from the mainstream job boards, they are so diluted that you will just be spinning your wheels trying to land a high paying management job. If you are trying to find that perfect position, contact your college career resource center, they will be able to help you figure out your best strong points........good luck.
  3. Find your calling and follow it. You will not go to oil & Gas sector just because i tell you to. Management is vast but are u the only one who is not able to decide. Don't you have placement sessions in your campus. If yes fill for companies that appeal to you where you really would love to work. Else approach companies where you'd love to work & Beg for employment. yes literally rationalise and request! Cheers!
