Besides news articles becoming more watered down and lacking substance, what else has the internet tarnished?
Half of the headline news on websites are barely news at all. The writing on top of it is hideous at best. Newspapers are going out of business because of this crap. What else has the internet totally screwed up in our society?

- Dating the good old fashion way where you fall in love with a person and not an "idea".
- Good question. Unfortunately, the internet has made people very lazy, in body AND mind. Just take a look, if you dare, at some of the chat boards. It seems as if nearly 80% of the responses are filled with profane words and/or hateful speech. Here is an explanation: The internet can cause people to interact with others, even though they may be thousands of miles away. This means that the person typing on the keyboard feels that they can get away with anything, because the physical other human being can not hurt them, because they are not there. A similar concept is that of a young boy sticking his tongue out through a moving bus window at someone because he is certain that he can get away with it. However, if the boy was on the street, he would not attempt such an act. Another parallel thought is this story. There were 2 dogs. Each was on the other side of the fence. They barked at each other aggressively, back and forth, with growling and meaness. They were both walking down the fence, continually asserting their "dominance" over the other one until there was a break in the fence, and the dogs were facing one another with no barrier in between. Suddenly, they both stopped barking and ran away scared as fast as they could! Another reason for the ridiculous behavior of the news media is that, since they can get away with it, then why not do it? It gives them an opportunity to spill there bad feelings about society, without the repercussions of punishment. That is one of the problems of free speech in the U.S. Yes, it is great if that particular speech is beneficial to society, but it also allows all the hateful and negative people to say whatever they wish. Catch 22. Anyway, hope you like my thoughts, I am sure they are more pleasant to read than the next news story...
- That's only the tip of the iceberg. For me, here's why the internet isn't much fun anymore: Online criminal activity has taken the fun out of using the web with their malware, web site hijacking, phishing and other fraudulent schemes. Unscrupulous marketers are successfully gaming search engine rankings with keyword manipulation making most search engines results almost worthless. Third party advertisers are tracking everything we do online and selling the information to the highest bidder. And the latest alarming trend? It's called "traitorware". It's the undisclosed embedding of tracking technologies used by historically trustworthy companies to collect product usage behavior by loyal customers without their knowledge or permission for marketing purposes and often sold to third-party advertisers as well. Despite claims of anonymous data collection from loyal customers, diligent users have proven otherwise and are beginning to confront and expose companies for doing so. To me, that's the ultimate betrayal. 24/7 online entertainment has turned us into easily-distracted, time-wasting dopamine-addicted junkies in need of continuous stimulation just to feel normal. And finally...our personal privacy has been forever compromised by under-the-radar erosion of privacy laws that allow government and law enforcement agencies to legally demand disclosure of user information collected by any online institution for a growing number of questionable purposes.
