  1. You can google a hospital bag checklist, there are plenty of pregnancy sites that supply them. So far I have my bathrobe, heavy duty undies and pads, slippers and cozy socks, comfortable pajamas, nursing bra and pads, mints and gum, camera, my PSP (just incase) and some travel bath items, and some makeup. I also have earplugs and a sleep mask. Last minute things I'll grab would be my purse, cellphone and charger, my pillow and I plan on wearing the same outfit home from the hospital, as when I leave so I don't over pack. My Husband is bringing a backpack with a camcorder, an extra pair of clothes, blanket for himself, deodorant, and my baby's coming home outfit with a few diapers and wipes. If you live close to the hospital, then you don't need to pack as much. Let friends or relatives bring you what you need if you don't have it. Of course, don't forget the carseat :) Congrats.
  2. no matter wat remember to take these 2 things with you, u will thank me!!! take ur own blanket and pillow! the hospitals blankets r big towels, not comfy, not warm and were used by milions of other ppl...gross! also bring snacks and drinks..like in a cooler. trust me the hospital only feeds twice a day and not that good of food. the rest is optional like books if u like to read or magazines.. ur cell fone and charger! and a going home outfit for the baby if ur taking baby home with you on discharge day! also bring a baby blanket, so they dont have 2 use those cheap, thin hospital towels lol. give ur baby something fuzzy to snuggle with. those r the things i brought with me to stay comfertable:) good luck on bein a mommy
  3. well im due any day now and im all packed. I have for me :- -2 nighties (1 for labour 1 for the ward) -5 pairs of close fitting (but not tight) bridget jones pants -warm socks -slippers -a thin dressing gown (takes up less room and will still keep me covered when im wandering around the ward) -heavy duty sanitary towels -breast pads -outfit to come home in (mines is a thin skirt and a thin top, with a pair of flat shoes, far easier to pack than my winter woolies lol) im not worried about warmth, im going to be going from a warm hospital, to a warm car, to a warm house, so i decided to go for comfort. -toiletries :- 2in1 shampoo (again cuts down on space) showergel, deodarant and a sponge. -i also have a small purse of change for the vending machines for my poor husband. -camera and charger for the camera (camera already fully charged but its been in there a while lol) -spare mobile phone charger (my husband and i both use the same type of charger so it means he can use both phones to make the phone calls that will be necessary after the birth) -puzzle books (1 for me 1 for hubby) -paracetemol for my husband (if he gets a headache means he doesnt need to ask the staff for pain relief, and he does get headaches) for baby:- -vests -sleepsuits -socks -scratch mits -nappies -wipes -bibs -an outfit to bring baby home in (including hat, mits and booties) -a small soft blanket i have not packed any toiletries for the baby because they say that you should only wash baby in plain water for the 1st few weeks, if you use anything else so soon it can damage thier skin. if the blood and stuff needs a little extra encouragement during the 1st bath the hospital usually provide a small splash of johnsons baby bath, to help with the stubborn bits. to be fair half the stuff that these lists tell you that you need, you really wont and its your poor birthing partner who has to lug all this stuff around. so i have 2 bags, 1 full of all the stuff that im going to need and 1 for the baby, my bag can come in straight away and the babies bag can be left in the car until needed. the best peice of advice it just be logical...think about labour, think about the ward and think about going home, what are you going to be doing at each phase of your stay and what will you need. dont over do it remember when people come to visit at hospital they often bring gifts with them or flowers and balloons, your going to want to fit all this stuff in the boot of your car along with the stuff you have packed for hospital, you dont want to have a tonne of stuff thrown all over the backseat. remember it should only be a couple of days in hospital so dont pack like your going on a 2 week holiday, most of what you pack wouldnt even leave its bag.
