Dear god, please help me; culinary school; the deciding.?

Now, everyone goes through this question. WHICH COLLEGE DO YOU PICK? I hate being in this position. it feel like I'm getting ripped into pieces. im angry, sad, over joyed, nervous, anxious, stressed, STRESSED, NERVOUS, and just...well...antsy. BAKING AND PASTRY ARTS. I honestly don't know. Culinary Institute of America. New York. Concrete jungle where dreams are made of. OR Kendall College. Chicago. City of...of...wind? Kendall College. Heres the deal-e-o. I live in Chiii city. Sooo my comfort zone. Close to friends and family. love love love the feeling of the school. so much passion, and great chefs. Work in the burbs still...haha. retail side job. start in sept 2011. C.I.A...top rank school. breathtaking campus in hyde park...waay out of my comfort zone. its like...oh hi. im from Illinois..whhaaat? I feel... well. torn. im a senior, and i know that most high school kids i will rarely even have contact with, but do i really wanna leave my Illinois life behind for something greater? I mean...its sooo hard. i love all my friends and family but my passion and work always comes first. i didnt start this at home cake business at 17 for nothing. and i would start school 3/27/2012. basically i have a year off. so would that be good or bad? more work? plus i need the 6 months of culinary experience...10-15 hours a week, on top of my cake business, michaels arts and crafts a.k.a my retail job, high school...well whats left of it, and yada yada... what do you guys think?

  1. i dont think god uses yahoo answers.
  2. I never heard C.I.A. University before?? But best wishes xD
  3. Tell me, is your dream worth stepping out your comfort zone? I think i heard your answer. You said yes, right? Well, there you go. Your friends and fam will always be there when you get back. Plus, you get to meet new friends and new experiences. Live the life of your dreams. :)
  4. It really is a bad time for this type of degree. A Culinary degree in this recession will not get line you up for a good paying job. Eating out right now is considered a luxury by many and many restaurants are closing. You can always go back to school when things get better. That said, stay in your comfort zone, you are going to need support while in college.
  5. You do realize that C.I.A is in semi rural new york state, right? not "the concrete jungle where dreams are made of." I think it can be good to leave your comfort zone, but not if your going to be having panic attacks every day. CIA is the best in the country, but if you go to Kendall you will be in chicago right away with thousands of opportunities for jobs. Not a whole lot of jobs in upstate new york... Im sure you will be happy with either choice.
