- I work for CAP Software, who is a POS Developer, and we have customers who call us all the time because they have upgraded their computers and need help transferring their data from the old to the new. This is almost always possible, and easy to do. I would recommend that you contact your POS Software company and ask them what files you would need to copy from the old computer to move to the new. They should be able to give you the appropriate guidance for their specific product, as well as advise you as to what settings you may need to adjust once the transfer is completed. Please know that most software companies do require a fee to work with the Tech Support department, so it is not unusual to be asked for some form of payment up front. These companies may charge on a per minute basis, or even offer better 1-year contract options that reduce the per minute charges significantly.
