What are my chances for majoring in Computer Science at UC Berkeley if everything works out?

I'm currently a sophomore and I have a 3.6 gpa for the first semester. I currently can't take any honors or ap classes because my school doesn't offer it. I go to a charter school and all the classes are " college preparatory" and its considered the one of the best schools in my city and the best school in its system. Sophomore Year: GPA of 3.6. I'm gonna take 2 community college courses to help boost my gpa so I should get at least a 3.8 gpa for my sophomore year. Extra Curricular Activities: I go to a Vietnamese Buddhist Temple every Sunday since freshman year. I am the founder of the chess club and the comedy club and I'm the secretary of the art and key club at my school. I also intern at a home business that specializes in computer severs. Plans for Junior and First Two months of Senior Year Get a GPA of 3.8 or above. I'm also gonna try to take 3 summer classes to help boost that up more. One of them might also be at UC Berkeley. Continue all the clubs above. Still intern at the server place. I'm also gonna try to get two to three more internships. One of them will be either at Google or at Cisco( the company that made the flipcam). ASB President and 4H robotics and Temple. SAT of at least 2150 or above. So this is what I should have before I apply: Sophomore Year 3.8 GPA Chess Club, Comedy Club, Key Club, Art Club Sever Internship and Vietnamese Temple Junior year: At least a 3.8 or above with 2 too 3 summer classes( one of them at uc berkeley and one or two of those classes will be computer classes). All the club above. ASB President and 4H robotics Sever internship and two to three more interships( one of them at cisco) at LEAST 500 hours of community service. SAT of at least 2150 or above. Senior Year: ap environmental science and ap government in addition to the 4 to five summer classes with everything above with another internship at another tech company. Personal Statement: Imma talk about how I grew up with a younger brother with autism an how that has made it hard for me to focus on my work since I have to spend a hour everyday helping him with his work on top of all the stuff I did above but how i'm very grateful to have him in my life and how I want to take care of him when I grow up. The second essay will just highlight all my leadership skills. Additional Info: I'm first gen and part Vietnamese and Chinese. My class has only 140 students and i think only 13 have a gpa of 3.6 or higher. And in those 13 students, only 2 of them show extra curricular similar to mine. My school is only 4 years old and only one senior got into Cal for sociolgy and his stat isn't so hot from my perspective. The only thing that I think worked for him was his 4.0. Other than that, he only took 3 ap classes, karate for a decade, a sat of 1830 , asb president for a couple of years, drama club , and 2 internships in graphic design and music studio. He is also white and asian. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

  1. Less than 10%. 3.6 GPA / 2150 SAT is nothing special. Also, being Asian is equivalent to losing ~75 points on your SAT.
  2. I think you are a well-rounded person and all those extra curricular activities are a plus. I can't say what your chances of getting in are, it's just too hard to tell. Getting another internship will definitely help and if you can associate yourself with Berkeley somehow and maybe even try to get a recommendation letter from a professor there, that will increase your chances a lot. Also, keep your GPA up, it doesn't need to be a perfect 4.0, but keep it over 3.5. The admissions committee like to see that you can balance both school and extra activities very well. You will be competing with students that come from schools offering tons of AP classes, so it's good that you are planning to take some of those and even some college-level classes. Sounds like your personal statement is very unique and you can talk about your diverse family, which is always a plus for Berkeley. Best of luck!
  3. Hello, I think you well rounded academically and in terms of community involvement and you only compete with the individuals in your graduating class when it comes to gpa and test scores, so if what you say is true, I think it shouldn't be that difficult for you to get accepted. BUT your major is extremely competitive and would actually require a score of 800 on Math level 2 in SAT subject tests and strong academic performance in mathematics, etc displayed through grades, because unfortunately many people are vying for the same spot and they can only accept a few exceptional students. To get into your major you really have to stand out, not only from your peers, but also from the other prospective applicants that apply for the same major. Good luck!
  4. A personal statement usually includes the following. You need a good attention grabber. In general you want your essay to follow this order: Paragraph 1-2 attention grabber. Think of an experience in your life that really showcases who you are. Be detailed. Discuss something signifcant in your life. It could be anything. Or discuss why you want to be in your profession or what story inspired you to study what you are studying. Paragraph 3-4. Highlight your academics: GPA, classes. What skills you learned in class that will help in succeeding in college. Awards and honors that you have received. Sports or clubs that you are in. Paragraph 5. Jobs that you have had that relate to your major? Any other things about yourself that you want to include Paragraph 6: Conclusion. In this conclusion you may want to re-state your main qualifications. You can also include any of the following statements: My goal is.... I deserve this scholarship because....
