Searching for a reliable handyman..so Craig's List vs Angie's List?

On time, cleans up after their work, good quality work and can refer someone for work that they cannot do rather than faking the funk and attempting to do work for which they have no idea nor talent..give me your opinion, Thanks.

  1. you dont know any Mexicans? or have friends that do?
  2. Angie's List. on Craig's List you don't know if the person really is handyman. Angie's looks at the person and does a background check
  3. Craig's List has no way to separate the good from the bad, as far as I know. Craig's list has also been used for many scams. Angie's List, however, is specifically designed to let you compare the quality, cost, qualifications, etc of different people/ businesses.
  4. I just joined Angies List, and it seems to be pretty thourough about checking what is said about the companies. Craigs List seems to be a magnet for people who are not quite on the up-n-up. I have used Craigs List extensively in the past, but I would not use it to advertise for someone to help me in my home. I have only used it for sale items. Is there no one in your town that you can get a referral from? I would ask others who have had work done, please do not hire 'off the street' unless you are secure in your abiblity to protect yourself. A family in Utah hired a man to do yard work, the worker kidnapped their daughter after he was finished with the job. (see Smart case in Utah) Also, I would strongly advise a licensed and bonded worker.
  5. ummm i think ya mean walkman
  6. Angie's List seems to be the best route to go. I know some who were well satisfied with the person who did the work for them. Please check it out.
  7. I've never tried Angie's list.I live near a small town and I just ask around, especially the lady who cuts my hair. She knows everyone.
  8. neither. your Better Business Bureau.
  9. Craigs list has no way of checking on the quality of work. Angies list is a better bet. However, asking friends who they used is usually the best way since they arent going to recommend someone bad to a friend.
