Apparently there is a test developed by NASA that gives you a list of 10-15 items that you have to rank in order of importance. These items would be used to get you home if you were stranded in space.

2. Apparently you have omitted a lot of information that might clue us in on what kind of stranding you're talking about and where "home" is. Stranded outside your spacecraft and just need to get back? Well if you're not already unconscious or moving away too fast you could yank off your air tank and use it as a jet (very unlikely to succeed). Stranded in orbit with no spacecraft to get back to? Prepare for reentry. Hope you have a heavy space suit plus propellant enough to deorbit (even more unlikely). Or maybe you're talking about the Shuttle crew in orbit with heat shield damage? Tests on several repair options are planned for the next flight. See ref.
