Dying to read romance novels that have the heroine disquised as a male.?
I have read most if not all the novels dating 2000 or newer( if you believe the book is unknown to me then list it). I have also read all the novels written by modern best sellers. This includes Catharine Coulter, Linda Howard, ext. I am mainly looking for books from 1995 or older(going down to 1970's). I have been disappointed in my search for these books because I know it is a popular genera and was hoping I'd be able to find them. I was able to find some novels that fit this by reading the novel listings in the back of a book published in 1987. I would like westerns but it really doesn't matter. This lack of answers has been driving me insane for close to two years now. So I now leave the search up to you.

- The Switch by Lynsay Sands.
- Twelfth Night by Shakesphere
- Monstrous Regiment by Terry Pratchett - a fantasy about a girl who goes to be a soldier. There's as much satire as romance. It's really funny. There are also a number of novels based on the life of Grace (or Grania or Granuaile) O'Malley, a 16th c. Irish noblewoman who took over her father's ships. The one I know of is The Pirate Queen by Alan Gold.
- The Masqueraders by Georgette Heyer
- In addition to what another answerer suggests, if you like stylish and witty 18th century and Regency romance, Georgette Heyer has written several books where the heroine dresses as a man - partly, anyway! The Masqueraders - 18th century; a brother and sister dress as the opposite sex for a reason. The Corinthian - Regency; a young girl dresses as a boy to run away from home. These Old Shades - 18th century; the heroine is disguised as a boy. Simon the Coldheart - Medieval; the heroine dresses as a boy to escape.
